I couldn’t afford nursing school or medical school, so I joined the military like my father. I went back to school to get my GED, and from there I got into nursing school. I graduated as a CNA in 1994, as a licensed vocational nurse in 1997, and I earned my associate’s degree in nursing in 2000.
