Frontline service providers, short-staffed and short supplied. Parents struggling to parent well amidst the crazy-making politicized strife over a safe return of their children to in-person teaching at schools.
It is common knowledge that workplace stress impairs employee happiness and contributes to decreased productivity. Now that I am no longer required to don any type of conformist herd clothing, I have been reflecting on the uniforms I have worn over the years. What I didn’t know was that it would take over five years to complete the research and more than two years to write and see though to publication.

I am a Registered Nurse and I was working a night shift at a hospital with a team of White colleagues. I was the only Black member of staff on the shift. I was looking after patients with my own allocated HCA and the other registered nurse was working on the other side of the ward with a different HCA. The Registered nurse and I checked medications together and the shift was going relatively well.

An estimated 1.1 billion women worldwide will have experienced menopause by 2025. Symptoms like hot flashes, fatigue, and anxiety can be incredibly disruptive — and last for years. But despite its massive impact, little is being done to support those going through menopause in the workplace. In a recent survey, 70% of respondents said they have considered changing their employment to better manage symptoms — perhaps because only 8% received significant support from their employer related to meno

Employee expectations around benefits and workplace support have evolved in step with the growing need for fertility and family-forming care. As HR professionals, it is our job to ensure employees have a comprehensive understanding of the benefits our organizations offer and how they can utilize them. Before educating employees, we first need to understand the rising healthcare costs and the financial burden of fertility care.
My experience of racism in the workplace is real and painful because it's not only the racism but the wickedness that follows. The following account is my true personal experience. As a Nurse born in Africa I am brought up to treat everyone with love, respect and dignity. In my country of origin, the word racism only exists in the dictionary. Never in my wildest dreams did I envision being the victim of racism or being caught up in an institution that was built on a white superiority construct.
Determining the number of continuing education (CE) hours required to renew a nurse practitioner license (NP) and understanding practice authority can be confusing. Very often, the NP is required to meet several requirements to renew, including CEs for their registered nurse (RN) license, NP license and national certification(s). Additionally, every state and/or territory maintains different requirements.

I remember my early nursing days working in the fast-paced ICU as being some of the most intense and overwhelming times of my nursing career. It’s called the Intensive Care Unit for a reason. Today, I am an acute nurse practitioner and my traditional bedside nursing days are behind me. However, my recent experience in the NICU reminded me just how amazing nurses truly are.

Some months back I posed the question: "Would I recommend nursing as a career?" That is a tough one. My answer isn't an emphatic "yes". It isn't an emphatic "no", either. And feeling not good about it all the time.
