Symptoms of an ST-elevation myocardial infarction and acute heart failure can mimic Takotsubo syndrome. Nurses should have a high suspicion of Takotsubo syndrome in patients with symptoms of acute cardiac syndrome or acute heart failure who recently experienced a significant emotional or physical event.
